Past Academies

  • OER Core Elements Academy – Faculty, librarians, and instructional designers were invited to participate in this unique professional learning opportunity. The Academy covered three core elements of Open Educational Resources: Introduction to Open Educational Resources & Practices, Discovery and Curation, and Evaluating and Remixing.
  • OER Advanced Skills Academy – Building on the curriculum of the Core Elements Academy, the Advanced Academy developed participants’ understanding of open educational practice, using the EPRA model, designed to deepen engagement through a project-based approach. Participants proposed an OER Project idea that they developed throughout the Academy. Prior OER experience was required.
  • OER Creator Communities – This advanced Academy built on previous OER trainings and field experience to support cohorts of three members (faculty, librarians, and instructional designers) in leveraging OER to improve collaboration in course creation for continuous improvement. Cohorts were institutional and/or cross-institutional.
  • Resources for the Resource Retreat – Professional development opportunity for faculty, instructional designers, and librarians. Participants worked in cohorts and created OER Projects to promote and advance OER at their institution.
  • OER Playbook Academy – Institutional cohorts participated in the OER in Texas Playbook Academy. Cohorts focused on identifying goals for OER adoption, building and engaging in OER Coalition, Programs, and Partnerships, and identifying plans for the development and roll out of campus-level policies, guidelines, and resolutions in support of OER
